Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
If your question isn't here, email us after purchasing — every active case includes direct access to the advisor.
- Do I need to have a water test before I contact you?
- Not necessarily. If you have an existing test — from a dealer, a municipal report, or a certified lab — we work with that. If you don't have a certified lab test, we'll tell you what panel to order and which accredited laboratories serve your area, at no additional charge.
- What if I don't have a written dealer quote yet?
- We can still review your water test and provide an assessment of your water quality situation, appropriate treatment categories, and sizing guidance — even without a specific proposal. Both are included in the same $179 fee.
- What can I submit?
- Any combination of: water test results (lab report, dealer test, or municipal report), a dealer treatment proposal or quote, photos of existing equipment or visible problems (staining, corrosion, sediment), a written description of the water problem you are experiencing, information about existing treatment that is not performing, or questions about a home purchase with a private well.
- Can you recommend a specific brand or product?
- We can describe the appropriate type and specification of treatment equipment your water situation calls for and provide comparables at market — but we do not maintain partnerships with equipment manufacturers or dealers, and we will not refer you to a specific vendor for compensation.
- How long does the review take?
- Typical delivery is within 3 business days of your consultation. Complex cases or those requiring additional information may take longer — we will communicate this clearly.
- What does a YELLOW or RED evidence grade mean for me?
- A YELLOW grade means the available data is insufficient for a confident recommendation — additional testing or information is needed. A RED grade means the situation requires on-site assessment, a licensed specialist, or a local authority that remote review cannot substitute. Both are valid, complete, paid reviews. You receive a full written report explaining what was found and what to do next.
- Is my water data and the dealer's information kept confidential?
- Yes. Your intake information, water test results, and dealer proposal are used solely to prepare your review. We do not share, sell, or disclose your information to dealers, equipment manufacturers, or any third party.
- What if the review confirms the dealer's recommendation is appropriate?
- Then you have an independent confirmation from an advisor with no financial stake in the outcome. You move forward with confidence. Many clients report that even a confirming review was valuable — peace of mind about a multi-thousand-dollar decision has clear worth.
- Do you serve all water sources — wells, municipal, cisterns?
- Yes. We review private well water, municipal supply, and other sources. Well water cases often involve more variables, but municipal water with treatment proposals for chlorination byproducts, lead, PFAS, or softening is well within our scope.
- What is the 30-day email follow-up?
- After your written report is delivered, you have 30 days to email follow-up questions at no additional charge. This covers clarifying questions about the report findings, follow-up questions after you've spoken to a dealer, or questions about the additional testing or next steps recommended.
- Will this service certify that my water is safe to drink?
- No. Clearstance does not certify drinking-water safety. That determination requires laboratory analysis of your specific water by an accredited laboratory — and potentially ongoing monitoring — which is outside the scope of this advisory service. If your situation requires that certainty, we will tell you so and explain what testing is needed.
- Does this service provide medical advice?
- No. Clearstance does not provide medical advice and does not diagnose health conditions related to water quality. If you have a health concern related to water exposure, consult a physician.
- Does this replace an on-site evaluation?
- Not always. Remote advisory review works well for the majority of situations where the evidence is available and the question is about treatment strategy, proposal evaluation, or understanding test results. For situations that genuinely require physical inspection — complex plumbing, equipment installations, well condition assessment — we will tell you so and the report will explain why.
- What is your refund policy?
- If you submit your intake and we determine that your situation is outside the scope of remote advisory review, we will tell you at that stage and provide a full refund. Once a consultation has been completed, the fee is non-refundable.
- How do I contact you after purchase?
- After purchasing, you will receive an intake link by email. Use the intake form to submit your materials and schedule your consultation. All communication during an active case is handled through the case system.
